I began showing dogs in the early sixties with my parents Pembroke Welsh Corgi’s.Then in the early seventies I acquired my first Old English Sheepdog. I showed a number of  O.E.S. to their New Zealand titles.

I also at this time purchased my first Norwegian Elkhound and have owned or bred twelve New Zealand champions including my USA import NZ Ch Windy Cove Brut N’ Rodna’s Banjo,

who was shown with some success in the U.K. for me, by Joe Cartledge.

In 1977 I acquired my first Tibetan Terrier NZ Ch Granton Milord Argyle from Sue Wilson in Australia. Bobby was the first T.T. to come to New Zealand and the first T.T. champion in this country.

I followed this up with the purchase of  Tibetan terriers  from  Jill Gould (NZ Ch Arkatagh Sarabande) Cindy Hewitt (NZ Ch Chiangtzu Berillium ), Joan  Cain (NZ Ch Jemecs Briareus and NZ Ch Jemecs Endymion )

Krista Guziolek (NZ Ch. Boshanti Tyson) and NZ Ch Boshanti Lexxus JW, Audrey Flockart (NZ Ch Qinghai Ga Dongge.) and Pat Tempest (Eng & NZ Ch Alilah Gervaise).

To date I have owned or bred eighty-nine Tibetan terrier champions in New Zealand, Australia and the USA.

When I married Louise, I inherited her Samoyeds and to date we have owned or bred twenty-five Samoyed champions including the South Islands first Grand Champion Samoyed.

Together Louise and I have owned or bred one hundred and twenty-eight NZ, Australian or US champion, T.T.’s, O.E.S., Samoyeds and Norwegian Elkhounds.

In 1978 I was admitted to the New Zealand Kennel Club Judges Panel. I am at present licenced to judge all breeds and groups at championship level and to award CC’s to all breeds in those groups.

I am also licenced to judge Best in Show. I have awarded C.C.’s in Tibetan Terriers in both the North and South Islands here in New Zealand.

I have also judged the breed in Australia and in 2002 I judged at the Tibetan Terrier Assn. Championship Show in the United Kingdom. Also in 2002 I judged the Northern Samoyed Society, UK Samoyed of the Year Contest.

I had the honour in 1996 of awarding the first Hamiltonstovare challenge certificates in New Zealand.

To date I have judged in New Zealand, Australia, England, the USA, Russia, China, Ireland, Slovakia, Canada and South Africa.

I have served on a number of club committees over the years including.

President and Treasurer Canterbury Working Dog Assn.

Treasurer and Show Manager Supreme Show Dog Contest (Champion of Champions Contest. In 2001 I was made a Life Member of the Supreme Show Dog Contest.

Show Manager South Island Puppy of the Year Contest.

Treasurer NZ Kennel Club Southern Classic Shows and the 2005 National Dog Show.

Vice President and currently President of Canterbury Kennel Assn.

In 2002 I was appointed to the NZ Kennel Clubs Breed Standards sub-committee and have served as Convenor for the last three years.

In 2006 I was elected Chair of the NZ Kennel Club Judges Assn and in 2013 was elected the first President of the new NZ Dog Judges Assn.

In 2013 I was elected as an Executive Councilor of the New Zealand Kennel Club.

 

I have lectured on judging the Tibetan Terrier to the Christchurch, North Canterbury and South Canterbury Judges Associations. And in Tasmania and Western Australia I lectured on the breed to the group seven aspiring judges.

I have had the pleasure of attending five World Tibetan Terrier Congress’, in Holland, Austria, the United States, Belgium and England..

I acquired my first Samoyed in 1969. I began showing samoyeds in 1970 and since then have bred and owned twenty-five New Zealand champions.

Our kennels, Nikolaevsk, holds the breed record for the most champions bred in the South Island, including the first South Island bred Grand Champion samoyed. Bear,   NZ Grand Ch Nikolaevsk An Bye Lay, is the breed record holder, winning Best in Show at the Dominion Samoyed Clubs annual championship on six consecutive occasions. In 1974 I imported Carwood Snow Nanette, bred by Gladys Varney in the United Kingdom.

When I married Brian, I inherited his Tibetan Terriers, O.E.S., and Elkhounds. Together Brian and I have owned or bred one hundred and twenty-eight New Zealand, Australian or US Champion Samoyeds, Tibetan Terriers, Old English Sheepdogs and Elkhounds.

In 1989 I was admitted to the New Zealand Kennel Club’s Judges Panel. I am at present licensed to judge all seven groups at Championship level and to award C.C.’s to all breeds in those groups and to judge Best in Show.

I have awarded CC’s to Samoyeds in both the North Island and the South Island here in New Zealand. I have also awarded CC’s in the breed in Australia and Ireland. I had the honour in 1995 to judge the Auckland Provincial Samoyed Associations Open Show. In 2002 I judged the Northern Samoyed Society (UK) Samoyed Puppy of the Year Contest.

To date I have judged in New Zealand, Australia, UK, Ireland, China, Russia, South Africa, Canada and the USA.

In 2000 I was made a life member of the Dominion Samoyed Club.

I have served on a number of club committees over the years including:-
